The Largest Denominational Faith Organization for Women
United Methodist Women (UMW) is the largest denominational faith organization for women with approximately 800,000 members. UMW’s mission is to be an advocate for the oppressed and dispossessed, to build supportive community among women, and engage in fostering growth in mission education.
The Main Street UMW supports the pastor’s discretionary fund, Main Street Day Care, UMYF, Salvation Army, Kits for Conference and many other national and international missions. The UMW holds a meeting on the second Tuesday of each month and plans to include a night time meeting for those who work. The women sponsor 2 major fundraisers each year for missions and also are responsible for the Care and Concern for the sick and funeral receptions when requested by the family.
