YOUTH MINISTRIES

Cultivating Christian Disciples

The youth of Main Street (grades six through 12) are invited to be in fellowship and ministry with each other and the surrounding community. Our Youth Ministries aim to cultivate Christian disciples who continue their discipleship into adulthood.  For more information or to sign up for any of the Youth Ministries opportunities listed below, please contact :

Opportunities in Youth Ministries

Sunday School

Jr. High (grades 6-8) and Sr. High (grades 9-12) classes meet each Sunday, 9:45-10:30 am in the youth room.  Teachers work as a team and rotate Sundays to allow for flexibility in scheduling.  Digital materials called the LinC helps connect faith and life for teenagers.

Time commitment:  One hour each Sunday on a rotating basis, plus prep time

Youth Group

Youth in grades 6 - 12 gather each Sunday evening at 4:30 from September through May.  The weekly meetings offer opportunities for Bible Study, fellowship, and service.  Dinner is served at 6:00 pm.  In addition to Sunday evening gatherings the UMYF offers special dinners, retreats, lock-ins, local mission work and summer youth mission trips.

Time Commitment:  Sunday evenings, September - May, 4:30 - 6:30pm

Youth Group Counselors

Youth counselors provide adult leadership for the Sunday evening youth groups.  Youth counselors build solid Christian relationships with teens, help lead discussions and programs, and provide support for trips and overnights.  A love for teens and a grounded faith are must-haves.

Time Commitment:  Sunday evenings, 4:30 - 6:30 pm, September through May

Confirmation Class

Each year, Main Street offers confirmation classes for youth in seventh grade and above who have not yet been confirmed.  Youth learn what it means to be a Christian disciple and discern whether they are ready to make that commitment by joining the church.  It is an active learning experience that includes an outreach project, speakers and interaction with mentors and parents as part of a comprehensive time of faith exploration.  The class meets in the youth room and continues for 9 - 12 weeks and includes worship participation.

Time Commitment: One hour each week for nine weeks

Confirmation Mentors

During Confirmation class each youth is partnered with an adult mentor.  Mentors meet weekly with their mentees, sharing questions, doubts and stories about their faith and how it is relevant.

Time Commitment:  One hour each week for nine weeks, plus weekly communication with mentees
