for it is to such as these that the kingdom of heaven belongs."

 Nursery Child Care

We provide quality child care for babies through 3 year olds in our nursery area for both the 8:30 and 11:00 am services.  Child care workers are carefully screened and supervised.  In addition, we have pagers for parents to take into the worship service.  Child care may also be provided for other special events and services as needed.

Children and Worship

“Launching Point” ministry is held during the 11:00 am worship hour on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th Sundays of each month.  Children will leave the service with their leaders after the first hymn to go to the Youth Room for their activities and will return to parents during the last hymn.  Contact Karen Waddell at 618-771-2469 or email

Vacation Bible School

Vacation Bible School is held each summer for one week from 9:00 am - noon.  It is open to our members, Day Care children, friends and the larger community.  Each year provides a new theme with varied activities for the children to enjoy and grow in their faith.  Youth and adult volunteers are needed to teach and coordinate activities throughout the week.

Children’s Council

This Council oversees ministry opportunities for children, including those listed here.  The group meets quarterly to review the status of the ministries and to provide any assistance and oversight needed.

Christmas Eve Family Service

At 5:00 pm on Christmas Eve, a special worship service is held for families with young children.  A child appropriate Christmas message is given along with a  little gift to take home.  A special offering is taken for a designated outreach mission of the church.  There is also an 11:00 pm service on Christmas Eve.

Fourth Sunday of Advent

All children and youth come together to lead the 11:00 am service in worship and song for this special Christmas celebration.
Rehearsals are held during The Launching Point and UMYF.

Palm Sunday Processional

During the Sunday school hour families are invited to walk along Main Street waving palms.  The children then lead the processional for the 11:00 am service.  This gives them an opportunity to participate in worship and it enriches the worship experience.  Some adult supervision needed.

Main Street Day Care and Preschool

Main Street Day Care and Preschool as a ministry of Main Street was started in 1988 and is a fully licensed child care center for children ages 6 weeks to 12 years old.  The center uses a Christian curriculum and is open to anyone who wishes to attend.    For more information visit
